The Body Temple: Healing The Claw
My birthday was last week 🥳 I only wanted one thing and I bought it for myself - a 90 minute deep tissue massage to support healing the chronic pain in my right arm.
Maybe it was the car accident I was in five years ago, or the pole dancing classes (so fun!) I was doing before Covid, or that I NEED hot yoga in my life (miss this!), or my tech neck from texting (hate this!) but I had gotten to the point that my right arm felt like it had been taken over by The Claw!
PAIN is the body’s way of saying Pay Attention Inside Now. I notice when I’m stressed, the pain in my right arm flares up. Ancient Eastern Yogic sciences teach the right side of the body is our masculine side, the left is our feminine. I’ve experienced on my own healing journey how overusing masculine energy and dishonoring feminine energy can lead to mental, emotional, and physical dis-ease.
The Body is The Divine Companion
Our bodies are not merely muscle and organs, but hold an innate intelligence linked to physical healing, intuition, instinct, DNA, ancestral wisdom, and more. The sensations, pains, and even injuries we experience can help us learn about ourselves and our patterns. Often, a physical block is related to a stuck emotion, belief, story, or trauma. Brilliant ideas, awareness, meaningfulness can flow in through our pain.
The body is a wise being in its own right and records all of our adventures and misadventures. It informs us, it heals us. Our body is the sensory being who loves us and is loyal to us throughout our life.
As we age we come to know and value the body all the more.
How does one learn to care for their body better than to be sick? How would one become merciful and loving and tender with the body then to be challenged by an injury of some sort?
Women’s circle is Tuesday + Taurus New Moon
I am inspired to share a meditation to honor the sacred relationship with the body at our next women’s circle on Tuesday May 11th, the New Moon in Taurus. When we're in Taurean energy, we're reminded that the more we bow at our own body temple, the more rooted, glorious, powerful, confident we feel. And the more generous we become with others.
