MABON Autumn Equinox: Equal Day and Night
Here in the northern hemisphere, I sense the shift coming - do you? I can hear Autumn knocking on my door, inviting me to shed any inauthentic leaves of my being and become the naked truth of who I am.
For many, this transition can be challenging. It’s hard to let go of the light summer gives us…to say goodbye to the warmth and playfulness of an outdoor fun-filled summer season.
But say goodbye, we must.
Even as we delight in the last days of summer’s sweetness, we must remember she is only one of life’s many flavors as we welcome the return of earth’s rooted wisdom to pause and take rest. As we wind down from summer activities, it’s important to stay grounded and eat well to support our immune system in this transition.
Honor the seasons
Nature knows how to bloom, flourish, decay, dissolve and be born again. When we participate in nature's cycles, we embody her stamina of renewal and beauty through change.
Healing ourselves requires healing our connection to these biorhythms.
Rather than just letting the season be a backdrop to our routine and wardrobe, we can honor the deeper wisdom of the seasons to allow these rhythms to become the portal to our own evolution. We can prepare for the energetic waves of these seasonal changes to create our own sacred experiences.
Unfortunately, most of us are too busy to notice these cycles. When we’re rushing around, adhering to overflowing schedules, listening to the demands of some outside authority, we lose our inner wisdom, innate rhythm, and our connection to nature’s cycles.

Self-healing is a journey inward. The Autumn Equinox is the invitation to slow down and turn in.
Let go of what no longer serves you to bring you back into balance.
It’s now time to say goodbye not only to summer's sunshine, but also to relationships, projects, and parts of yourself you’ve outgrown.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Autumn is the season of the metal element. From rough ore to sparkling gemstones, this element symbolizes the process of refinement and its resulting shining products. In this season, it’s time to make sure everything pure and necessary is used and maximized, and that anything unnecessary or wasteful is eliminated.
Anxieties often arise from this seasonal change of surrender. You’re not crazy. It’s very common. Reach out for support from the ones you trust.
I’m doing my best to take pleasure in this time of harvesting: I am receiving and appreciating all the ways I’ve grown and flowered throughout this spring and summer and letting go of what no longer serves me…taking only what I need into the stillness of winter.
I’m sensing a contraction to come, drawing me into my home and deeper into my inner world to discover how my outward expansions during this spring and summer translate to my inner spiritual and creative life.

When we lose the concept of a cycle within ourselves we miss out on recognizing that there are phases to the cycle which manifest in everyday life. Each phase of the menstrual cycle offers us different ways of thinking, different skills and abilities, and different needs.
The female energy paradigm is like a wheel. When you stabilize it and give it a push, it accelerates and gains speed. This is how your body was intended to work. Honoring the whole spectrum of the cycle empowers you to arrive at your desired destination faster and maybe even farther than you originally intended.
